THE South West Football League claimed the A-Section title of the Landmark Country Championships after defeating the Peel Football league in the Grand Final at Medibank Stadium.

The B-Section Grand Final was won by the Ongerup Football Association against the Avon Football Association, while C-Section saw the Central Wheatbelt Football League defeat the Hills Football Association.

Landmark Country Football Championships Grand Final results

THE South West Football League claimed the A-Section title of the Landmark Country Championships after defeating the Peel Football league in yesterday's Grand Final at Medibank Stadium.

The SWFL were lead by eight goals from Dean Buszan and four from Tim Noakes to claim a convincing 74-point win. Captain Michael Robinson, pictured, also made a big impact and was named overall A-Section fairest & best in a tied result with Aaron Thomas from the Peel Football League.

Landmark Grand Finalists decided


The Peel Football League will play the South West Football League in the A-Section Grand Final of the Landmark Country Football Championships at Medibank Stadium on Sunday after both claimed victory in today's (Friday, July 15) semi-finals.

The SWFL defeated the Great Northern Football League to book their place in the Grand Final, while Peel defeated reigning champions Upper Great Southern to secure their spot.

The B-Section Grand Final will see the Avon Football Association play the Ongerup Football Association as a curtain-raiser to the A-section contest, while C-Section will see the Central Wheatbelt Football League play the Hills Football Association earlier on Sunday morning.

In the Colts Grand Final at Claremont Oval tomorrow, Kimberley Spirit will play the SWFL Colts.

Day One: Landmark Country Championships

The Peel, Great Northern and South West Football Leagues were all A-Section winners on Day One of the 2011 Landmark Country Championships yesterday, Thursday, July 14.

Full results follow for B and C-Section, as well as the Colts competition, which has seen Kimberley Spirit and Regional Districts win both of their first two games.

Day Two games continue today, with Colts finals tomorrow at Claremont Oval and senior finals on Sunday at Medibank Stadium.

Goalkicking machine 'The Pontiff'

Paraburdoo Saints full forward Simon 'The Pontiff' Ponter is on track for a huge haul of goals this season after kicking more than 100 majors in 11 games in the Fortescue National Football League.

Going into last fortnight's game, The Pontiff had booted 90 goals in 9 games. He added another 16 in the last fortnight to take his total to 106.
