Inaccurate kicking proved costly for WA in the third quarter as SA booted 4.1 to WA’s 1.6 to set up a handy 13-point lead heading into the final term.

Country Football supports suicide prevention

The WA Country Football League has joined with 1ife to support and promote suicide awareness and prevention strategies throughout rural and regional Western Australia.

Mental Health Minister, Helen Morton recently announced the partnership which will see the WA Country football clubs host the 1ife Weekend on August 6 and 7, where all senior games of football will join together to promote these important strategies.

WESTERN Australia’s State Country team was defeated by South Australia’s State Country side in the inaugural Country Challenge Cup at AAMI Stadium on Sunday, July 31.

State Country Team heads to South Australia

New WA State Country Coach Paul Pannell has selected the final side to head to Adelaide for a clash with arch rivals South Australia at AAMI Stadium, this Sunday, July 31.

Former Geelong Rookie listed player Jeff Smith, pictured, will lead the team for the first time. Smith, a quality big man, has represented both Western Australia and Queensland at National Carnivals and is one of the most experienced players in the lineup.

A total of 13 players in the squad have played WAFL football and 19 are original country boys.

State 16's & 18's ARG Award Recipients

QR National Freight provides terrific support to country players via the WA Country Football League.

This is the 5th Year that QR National Freight has provided their support to the State Program through this partnership, QR National Freight has provided financial assistance to players from regional areas in WA who are selected into the State 16 and 18 teams, and to the AFL draftees. To date they have provided $120,000 in support.
