Welcome to the coaching section of the West Australian Football Website. The website has been designed to be user friendly and provide you the coach with the most relevant information and resources that can assist you in being an effective coach. Enjoy the site and see below for a quick message from our two West Australian AFL Coaches.

The journey you are currently on or about to begin as a coach is one of the most challenging but satisfying involvements in our great game of Australian Rules Football. There are no doubts that the COACH is the gatekeeper to both the participation and development of all players at all levels. Therefore it is paramount that you as the coach are prepared to learn and equip yourself with the information that will assist you in being an effective coach. Remember be consistent and treat all players equally helping to ensure an enjoyable environment for all. Good luck in your coaching and most of all enjoy the experience it has to offer.
John Worsfold – West Coast Eagles FC

All the research tells us that the coach has the most important impact on keeping kids playing our great game and also has the biggest impact on developing talented players. I would encourage all coaches to never underestimate the influence you can have on a young footballer. Whilst you are primarily there to teach football skills, you will find yourself being in the privileged position of being a true mentor to your players and having the opportunity to develop them not only a footballers, but perhaps more importantly, as solid young citizens. I encourage coaches at all levels to create fun, positive training and playing environments and to always look at ways to further develop your coaching skills.
Mark Harvey – Fremantle FC
