Coaches can learn from the experts


FORMER Hawthorn and Carlton premiership coach David Parkin will arrive in WA next month along with current Geelong Skills Acquisition Coach David Wheadon to head up an AFL Level Two Coaching Course.

Registrations are now open for the course, which will be held at Murdoch University on Saturday and Sunday, March 13 and 14. Key note presenters will include Parkin and Wheadon along with WAFL League coaches and WA State Academy Coaches Rob Wiley, Craig Starcevich and Brad Wira.

WA to host high performance coaches


ASPIRING football coaches will be given the opportunity to learn from some of the best in the business when Western Australia hosts an AFL High Performance Coaching Course at Subiaco Oval from Tuesday, December 1 to Sunday, December 6 this year.

A number of high profile and leading AFL club staff will present the latest ideologies and practices within the game of Australian Rules Football, with topics to include coaching philosophy, program management, communication strategies, advanced skill development, game plans and analysis, sport science, talent identification, umpiring support, AFL policies and public relations.

New direction for Australian Football Coaches Association


NURTURING new coaches and rewarding coaching excellence are two of the key aims identified by WA’s revamped Australian Football Coaches Association heading into the future. 

The AFCA, which was established in the early 1980s to develop and encourage coaching development in WA, has provided an invaluable service to the football community over the years, coordinating coaching accreditation, seminars and recognition programs.
