Amy Potter from Armadale Auskick Centre was announced as the winner of the WA Child Safety Volunteer Award at the inaugural Constable Care WA Child Safety Awards at Burswood Grand Ballroomon on July 28.
Over 400 guests attended the gala function including dignitaries His Excellency Malcom McCusker QC (Governor of Western Australia), The Honourable Chief Justice of Western Australia Wayne Martin QC and Police Commissioner Dr Karl O’Callaghan.
The evening celebrated the people and organisations that have contributed to child safety in Western Australia in 2012.
Highlighting the outstanding work that is done by so many of our NAB AFL Auskick volunteers, Amy Potter (Armadale Auskick Centre) was announced as the winner of the coveted Western Australian Child Safety Volunteer Award.
Amy was recognised for her ongoing volunteer work and commitment to the children in the Armadale area through the provision of safe, fun and fair NAB AFL Auskick environments.
Amy has developed both boys and all-girls centres that run alongside each other to ensure that each child’s individual needs are met. She has also volunteered her time to run Active After School Community sessions at all the local schools to provide an opportunity for kids to engage in physical activity after school time, and provide a pathway to community football clubs.
Troy Kirkham, WAFC Manager Junior Football, congratulated Amy, saying she was a fantastic ambassador for the NAB AFL Auskick program. “We commend her on receiving this significant recognition. Her passion and drive to achieve the best outcomes for her Auskickers is second to none. Through winning this award Amy also highlights the important role of all volunteers that are involved in grassroots football,” Mr Kirkham said.
NAB was also recognised for its ongoing support of the NAB AFL Auskick program in WA, and was named as a finalist in the Western Australian Corporate Program & Partnership Award. NAB continues to be an outstanding sponsor of the program both nationally and within Western Australia through the support of its staff, and in particular through the support and drive of Brad Stone (NAB WA Operations Manager). Through NAB’s involvement in community programs such as NAB AFL Auskick they significantly influence the lives of tens of thousands of children on a weekly basis.
Troy Kirkham said that Brad and all the staff at NAB should be incredibly proud of what they provide to the wider Western Australian community through their long-term and ongoing support of the NAB AFL Auskick Program. “The significant child outcomes are evident and it’s thoroughly deserving that NAB as an organisation have been recognised through the Constable Care WA Child Safety Awards,” he said.
