Volunteers are the backbone of our great game, and underpin our
competitions and environments throughout football in our state. Since
the mid 80’s, the West Australian Football Commission has made
"Volunteer Award" presentations to recognise those who have given
long-term voluntary service to Australian Football at all levels. In recent years these awards have formalized into the RAC WA Football Volunteer of the Year Award, now in its fourth year the prestigious award has been adopted nationally by the AFL.
In 2009 the WAFC in conjunction with the RAC will be awarding a Volunteer Award in each of the 17 Football Districts and Regions.
Each of the District and Regional winners will be invited with guest to the 2009 Sandover Medal, where each of the District and Regional winners will be acknowledged for their efforts amongst some of Western Australia’s footballs finest contributors, and the overall State winner of the RAC WA Football Volunteer of the Year will be announced.
The
Overall State Winner of the RAC WA Volunteer of the Year will receive a
trip for 2 to the 2009 AFL Grand Final, including Flights,
Accommodation and Grand Final breakfast function.
